Analyzing the Symptoms and Signs of Addiction

RiverMend Health Centers of Georgia Psychological TestingThe purpose of psychological testing is to analyze symptoms and signs of mental disorders, including dangerousness to self and others, that are present at the time of the testing. During testing, evidence is obtained regarding a patient’s insight, judgment, and capacity for abstract reasoning to inform decisions about treatment strategy and the choice of an appropriate treatment setting.

The psychological testing administered by RiverMend Health Centers of Georgia is a collection of data based on observation of a patient’s behavior while the patient is in the interview. The test administrator will observe and analyze factors such as a patient’s mood, speech, appearance, expressions and will provide baseline measurements before recommending and instituting an addiction treatment plan.

Results from psychological testing will also enable other members of your clinical team (nurses, psychologists, occupational therapists, social workers, case managers, peer counselors) to develop and implement a plan of care.
