RiverMend Health Centers know that people with addictions do not have control over what they are using, doing, or taking and have become dependent on these substances or behaviors to get through the day. We also know how these behaviors can harm or destroy lives, families, careers, and futures. When a person becomes addicted, there are psychological, physical, and emotional components involved. Psychologically and emotionally, addicts begin to suffer bouts of despair, mood changes, and erratic behaviors when they are not using substances or not engaged in their addictive behaviors. Physically, they become unaware of what is happening to their bodies.
